High river levels today may lead to flooding.
Flooding is possible on 30 January 2026 . River levels remain high following the recent rainfall.
Areas most at risk are low lying land and riverside areas around Great Yeldham, Castle Hedingham, Sible Hedingham, Halstead, White Colne, Chappel, Fordstreet, and the Toppesfield Brook, and in Colchester between the A12 and East Street. The weather forecast is improving, and we expect levels to start returning to normal soon.
We are monitoring rainfall and river levels .
Avoid using low lying footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses .
