Groundwater flooding in Deane and Ashe in North Hampshire

High groundwater levels may lead to flooding.  Flooding is possible . Light rain (10mm) was recorded in the last week.  At the borehole in Oakley, the level has risen by 10cm in the last week. Flooding is affecting the ability of septic tanks to operate effectively. The River Test will be flowing in Deane and Ashe. Groundwater is now very close to the level we expect cellar flooding in Deane. From Thursday 12/03/2026 into Friday 13/03/2026, between 15 and 20mm of rain is expected to affect Hampshire. Saturday 14/03/2026 and Sunday 15/03/2026 are expected to be mostly dry. If heavy rain affects the area, cellar flooding in Deane is likely from this weekend. Groundwater levels will remain high throughout March.  We are closely monitoring the situation .  Residents are advised to prepare property resilience measures and ensure that pumps are working where they have been installed , including pumps used to help reduce water levels.  This message will be updated by 6:00PM on 18 March 2026 or as the situation changes.
