Groundwater flooding in villages surrounding Andover

High groundwater levels may lead to flooding.  Flooding is possible from 16/02/2026 because of a very wet start to 2026.  Flooding is affecting the sewer network at Penton Mewsey, and the main road at Penton Grafton. Groundwater will emerge in many of the ditches and roads in most villages. In Appleshaw, cellar flooding could begin from Monday 16/02/2026. Small amounts of rain (between 5 and 15mm) are forecast today 13/02/2026 and Sunday 15/02/2026. On Monday 16/02/2026 and Tuesday 17/02/2026, minimal rain is forecast. If further heavy rain affects the area, then next week, cellar flooding in Hatherden, as well as sewerage system impacts in Appleshaw, could occur. Groundwater will remain high throughout February.  We are closely monitoring the situation .  Residents are advised to prepare property resilience measures and ensure that pumps are working where they have been installed . Please remove any valuables stored in cellars.  This message will be updated by 6:00PM on 20 February 2026 or as the situation changes.
