Groundwater flooding in the Meon Valley from East Meon to Soberton

High groundwater levels may lead to flooding.  Flooding is possible , as a lot of rain has fallen this week (41mm).  Flooding is affecting the electricity sub station in Rectory Lane, Meonstoke. The Winterbourne will be flowing across Rectory Lane and behind the Buck's Head Pub. On Friday 30/01/2026 and Saturday 31/01/2026, up to 15mm of rain is forecast on each day. Sunday 01/02/2026 and Monday 02/02/2026, are expected to be drier. If heavy rain affects the Meon Valley in the coming days then groundwater levels at the borehole in Meonstoke will rise into next week. If not, then levels may peak over the weekend. Flooding at the Bucks Head Pub could occur in the next two weeks with further heavy rain.  We are closely monitoring the situation .  Residents are advised to prepare property resilience measures and ensure that pumps are working where they have been installed .  This message will be updated by 6:00PM on 05 February 2026 or as the situation changes.
