Groundwater flooding in the Meon Valley from East Meon to Soberton

Groundwater levels in the Meon Valley are high but slowly falling. At the borehole at Pound Lane, Meonstoke, the level has fallen by 85cm in the last week. Residual flooding could be affecting the electricity sub station in Rectory Lane. Water may still be flowing across Rectory Lane and behind the Buck's Head Pub. Mostly dry weather is forecast on Tuesday 10/03/2026, Wednesday 11/03/2026 and Saturday 14/03/2026. On Thursday 12/03/2026 and Friday 13/03/2026, further rain (between 20 and 25mm) is expected. Groundwater flooding impacts could re-occur during the next week if heavy rain affects the Meon Valley. We are closely monitoring the situation. Residents are advised to prepare property resilience measures and ensure that pumps are working where they have been installed. This message will be updated by 18:00 17/03/2026.
