Cuckmere River

The Cuckmere and Bull Rivers had fallen near to normal following Tuesday's rain. However, Friday morning's rain is cause rivers to rise again. Small amounts of rain are forecast Friday afternoon and Saturday afternoon. River levels will likely rise through much of Friday and Saturday, although there will be periods when rivers stabilise, or fall. River levels are not expected to rise as high as recent events. Only minor flood impacts are expected, to affect fields, roads, and gardens. River levels should finally begin to fall Sunday. However, more rain is forecast Monday, which will cause the river to rise again and further flooding could be possible next week. Don't put yourself or others at risk. Avoid roads that flood (Mill Lane and Church Road Hellingly, and North Street Alfriston). This message will be updated by 14:00 31/01/2026.
