Rising groundwater levels are expected to cause flooding. Flooding is expected from 26th January 2026 onwards. Groundwater levels in West Dorset remain high. Areas that could be affected include: Winterbourne Abbas, Winterbourne Steepleton, Martinstown, Winterbourne Monkton, Winterbourne Herringston and Winterbourne Came. Forecast rain later today and overnight will keep groundwater levels high. Residents may experience inundation of septic tanks and sewer systems. Properties may experience flooding in cellars in affected areas. Flooding of roads is expected. Roads may be damaged by floodwater. We are closely monitoring the situation . If you have a pump, make sure it is working and switched on. Think about alternative power sources in case of power cuts .
