High tides over the next two days may lead to flooding.
Flooding is possible on 29 and 30 January 2026. Flooding is possible 2 hours either side of high tide times.
Areas most at risk include Christchurch Harbour and tidal stretches of the Lower Stour and Avon. The detailed tidal forecast for those who use it, is for high water level of 1.38 mAODN at 9:45pm this evening with south easterly force 6 winds. Second high water is forecast at 1.42 mAODN at 7:30am tomorrow, with south westerly force 3 winds. The third high water is forecast at 1.55 mAODN at 8:30pm with southerly force 6 wind. (mAODN is height above average sea level). The river level at the Throop station has also triggered this Alert, and the risk is higher during the next 3 high tides.
We are closing flood gates and closely monitoring the situation.
Avoid coastal roads, footpaths and carparks, which may be flooded and refer to local authority websites for road closures.
