The River Tone level at Currymoor pumping station is currently 7.73m. Water will enter Currymoor via Hookbridge spillway whilst this level exceeds 7.45m. The drain level is 7.75m, so Cutts Road and New Road remain closed. Athelney spillway is running and the A361 remains closed. Please refer to www.somerset.gov.uk/roads-travel-and-parking/emergency-road-closure-gates/. We are pumping at Northmoor and Saltmoor stations with additional pumps now running at Northmoor. The River Tone level is still too high for pumping at Currymoor, but we will commence pumping there once river levels allow.
A band of sustained rain, heavy at times, is forecast overnight. The catchments are saturated, so rivers are forecast to rise again, though not as much as on Tuesday. Any response from the rivers to tonight’s rainfall will occur tomorrow, Friday, as the peak passes down through the system.
We are monitoring the situation closely and checking floodbanks and spillways. Please do not walk, cycle or drive through flood water. This message will be updated by 1 PM on 30/01/2026, or as the situation change
