Flood Warning

Washford River, riverside properties from Kingsbridge to Lower Roadwater

The Washford River remains high although levels have been falling. Catchments are saturated however and rivers will be extremely responsive to further rainfall. Flooding is forecast to affect locations near the Washford River, with low lying land and roads expected to be most affected. Areas at risk include properties in Roadwater and roads in Kingsbridge. Showers are forecast for Friday night and on Saturday. Rainfall will mainly be light but there is potential for heavier downpours. Sunday and Monday are both forecast to be drier until more rain arrives later on Monday. We are monitoring rainfall and river levels closely and Field Teams are clearing debris screens and checking rivers for blockages. Act on your flood plan if you have one and check that any flood resistance and resilience equipment you may have is operational. This message will be updated by 1PM on 31/01/2026, or as the situation changes.
