East Somerset Rivers

Rivers remain high and flooding is possible on Thursday 29th January. Flooding is forecast to affect locations near the River Brue and River Sheppey, with low lying land and roads expected to be most affected, particularly around the B3151 Glastonbury to Meare Road. Overtopping is forecast from the Glastonbury Millstream and the River Brue at North Drain and Westhay. The River Brue is forecast to be bankfull upstream of Bruton Dam with field flooding likely. Throughout the day isolated showers are forecast, with a band of more sustained rain this evening through to the early hours of Friday morning. We are closely monitoring the situation and checking flood defences.  Take care and avoid walking, cycling or driving through flood water and avoid low lying roads near rivers, which may be flooded.  This message will be updated by 1:00PM on 30 January 2026 or as the situation changes.
