Flood Alert

West Somerset Streams

River levels across West Somerset have responded to last nights rainfall and remain high on Friday 30th January. Flooding is possible as a result. Areas most at risk include the Horner Water, River Aller, Washford River and the Hawkcombe, Monksilver and Doniford Streams and their tributaries, with low lying land and roads expected to be most affected. Further rain is forecast throughout Friday and Saturday. Rainfall will mainly be light but there is the potential for periods of heavier downpours and blustery conditions. We are closely monitoring the situation and Field Teams are out clearing debris screens and checking rivers for blockages. Take care and avoid walking, cycling or driving through flood water. Remain aware of local water levels and weather conditions and don’t put yourself or others at risk. This message will be updated by 1PM on 31/01/2026, or as the situation changes.
