Lower Avon and tributaries

This is a flood alert update. High river levels and further forecast rain may lead to flooding. Areas most at risk include tributaries between Ringwood and Christchurch. Flooding is possible as river levels react to rainfall, and low lying land and roads near rivers particularly around Ringwood Old Cottage may be affected. Further rain is expected tonight and tomorrow. We are closely monitoring the situation. Please avoid using low lying footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses, and do not attempt to walk, cycle or drive through flood water. People in this area should continue to monitor local water levels and weather conditions. This message will be updated by 4:00PM on 30 January 2026 or as the situation changes.
